Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Below you'll find answers to the questions we get asked about purchasing boutique and wedding dresses

Do I need an appointment to try on dresses?

Appointments are required for Wedding Dress shopping, so the bride can have her own fitting room and a personal Bridal Consultant guiding her through the appointment. We advise that Brides bring a small wedding party with them (3-4 guests). Appointments usually last around an hour and a half.

For a Prom Dress shopping, an appointment is not required! We ask that Prom girls only bring an entourage of no more than 2 guests with them.

Do I have to pay for the dress in full upfront?

A 50% deposit is required when purchasing or ordering any gown from us. We then do not ask for any further payment until the dress arrives in store. The dress does not need to be paid in full until alterations take place or it leaves the store.

Do I have to take my dress home as soon as it arrives in store?

We are more than happy to store any gown in store until the day of the event for no extra charge, even if the gown is paid for in full.

Can Mousetrap provide me with an alterations service?

We are happy to recommend an experienced seamstress who works alongside our business. Any alterations are charged in addition to the cost of the dress and are not included.

When is the best time to start Wedding Dress shopping?

We suggest that you start looking for your dream dress around 12 months before the wedding. Some dresses can take up to 8 months to be ordered and made. We suggest you leave 12-8 weeks before the wedding for any alterations.

When is the best time to start Prom Dress shopping?

Our new Prom Collection starts to arrive in store from October, with new styles arriving every week! Prom dresses can take between 3 and 4 months to order and make. We can order in from UK size 0 to size 28 and most Prom dresses come in 1 or 2 other colours. Our cut off point for ordering Prom dresses is in February Half Term, in order for the dress to arrive by the end of May, in time for Prom. You should allow 8 - 6 weeks before the Prom for alterations.

Can I try on Prom Dresses without my own Parent or Guardian?

Unfortunately we do not permit Prom Girl's to try any dresses on, if they are not accompanied by their OWN Parent or Guardian. This sadly means that even if you come in with a friend's Parent or Guardian, you wont be able to try on dresses.
